Indiana Attorney General makes stop at Gibson County Coal Mine
GIBSON CO., Ind. (WFIE) – Attorney General Todd Rokita made a visit to Gibson County on Monday.
He got a full tour of the Gibson County Coal Mine as part of his office’s efforts to support reliable energy.
He’s visited the mine before a few years ago, but he came back to see the progress the miners have made and the areas they’re working on mining now.
After going through the safety procedures, Rokita was able to go underground with the workers to see firsthand what the job is like.
Rokita says talking to the workers is his favorite part about doing these types of visits.
“I want to talk to the men and women – I already talked to a few who work here, because that’s where the real stories, that’s where you learn, that’s where I get my marching orders,” he explains. “It’s not from the factories or the mines that sells, it from the people that work in them.”
After the coal tour, Rokita also made a stop at the Trotter House Community Center.
