Indiana was once known for having some of the lowest electricity rates in the United States. This made it an attractive destination for companies setting up operations in the state. Low-cost electricity rates and uninterrupted power supply are some of the factors that industries consider when deciding on a state to set up their operations. However, due to federal regulations and the premature closure of the state’s baseload power, Indiana’s energy prices have skyrocketed. As Indiana approaches a future of economic development, the state’s power needs are more critical than ever. Emerging sectors such as data centers, microchip plants, and battery manufacturing demand substantial energy resources. To remain competitive in this dynamic landscape, Indiana cannot afford to compromise on reliable baseload power.

Reliable Energy, Inc. is committed to working with policymakers and educating the general public on the critical role of the coal industry in Indiana. Despite the trend towards other energy sources, Indiana’s clean coal remains a safe, reliable, affordable, and dispatchable energy source, and the state has an abundant supply of it. Countries like China and India are investing heavily in coal-fired capacity, which is growing five times faster than in the United States. This puts Indiana at a disadvantage and the entire nation risks losing its competitive edge to countries like China.

To help shape the future of Indiana’s energy policy, Reliable Energy, Inc. has an Associate Member program that enables industries that benefit from from low-cost, affordable electric rates to support the Association’s goals and objectives.
